Muraba Residences

Palm Jumeirah

This multi-storey luxury residential project is on the crescent of the Palm Jumeirah and is the first of its kind in the region.
The award-winning Spanish architects RCR Arquitectes crafted the design of the building to allow residents uninterrupted views of the nearby waters of the Arabian Gulf, while enjoying privacy from nearby buildings.
This was achieved by the use of over 3,300 vertical cast glass louvers positioned exterior to the windows of each apartment, and on each terrace.

Glasshouse created each of the more than 3 metre high, panels using two pieces of gently undulating cast low-iron glass, which were tempered and then laminated together to a final thickness of 27mm with DuPont Sentryglass, to provide the necessary strength and stiffness for exceptional wind-loads.
Each face of the finished louvers is thus formed into gentle curves like draped fabric, allowing light to enter the building, while protecting the privacy of the residents.

RCR were expecting to have to import the glass louvers from specialists in Spain, and we are proud to be able to say that at the end of the project, they told us they were “blown away” by the glass, locally produced at Glasshouse.
